My new desk!

Decided to upgrade my desk, what do you think?

I bought a standing desk base, and built my own table-top. I've always wanted a really nice wooden desk, finally did it! I love the feeling of sitting at this desk 😃

I need to figure out cable management first, so many cables everywhere!
As requested, here is the final setup!

I have a very fancy KVM switch, which is manually unplugging the USB hub from the mac and plugging in into my PC! 😄 (Video is wired from both monitors to both machines)

Nice!! I might get one of those. My bf has one (and a focusrite, too!!) and loves it for his desk setup. Are you planning to record music with the focusrite? 👀

Your workstation looks really great! Awesome job!!!
My desk top is almost finished, so I'll share mine here when it is, too :) I did a similar thing, bought the base separate and then got a salvaged live edge piece and have been toiling away over it haha

Also - love the algorithms textbook monitor base xD One is under a monitor at my house, too! lol
wait I just noticed you have a whole soundboard thing too?! tell us about your recording setup!

Well, when I got married I used that as an excuse to buy some sound recording equipment 😀 (because I DIY'd the sound for our wedding). At the moment I'm just using the recording equipment with my mic during video calls, but I hope to try out some small-time recording just for fun!

My video call setup is:
Shure PG58 dynamic mic -> Mackie Mix 8 (for pre-amp + minor eq) -> focusrite (there's a small amount of extra gain added at the focusrite, because the dynamic mic is a bit quiet otherwise)

For recording I'm planning to try:
Guitar -> PG58 -> Forusrite -> Reaper
I don't think I'll need the mixer for recording. I should be able to handle sound processing in reaper. (But I haven't tried reaper yet, so maybe I'll keep using the mixer)

Thanks! And that's awesome you're building a desk too! A live-edge desk would be pretty cool, can't wait to see it

Yess, it's the perfect height haha!

Ah, right!! Totally forgot about that.

Guitar into the mic? OH for an acoustic, right? That should be fun!
I'd bet if you're used to the mixer now, it will be easier to use that than Reaper at the start. Plus the fact that it's tactile is really cool imo :)

Sounds like a fun setup. I hope you have a ton of fun playing around and recording :D

Yeah my acoustic has a pickup as well, but I don't love the tone that comes out of the pickup. Maybe I'll blend them? 🤔 Not sure.

Tactile is definitely fun!!
I think we have the same tower :D Fractel?
Actually yes!! Maybe we do haha
